Karaka Point 

Karaka Point was once a fortified pawhere in early history Māori were perfectly positioned to see potential invaders coming down Queen Charlotte Sound (Totaranui). View historic earthworks including ramparts and whare (house) pits from possibly the early 1700s can still be seen. 

Walk down the 400 metre walkway through the Karaka Point Historic reserve and enjoy the expansive 270-degree views of the whole Queen Charlotte (Totaranui) sound.

Hear about the area which is rich in early Maori history to present day. See the results of regeneration and conservation efforts to re-introduce many native plants and birdlife.

RETURN to Escape to Picton our boutique hotel, wine bar and restaurant in Picton, sited by the town’s waterfront, overlooking the marina. 

Here you will be served tastings of New Zealand Green Lipped mussels Mussels steamed in a white wine sauce with a creamy broth, and are internationally renowned for their fabulous flavour and anti inflammatory properties.

After your mussels tasting its then time to TRAVEL TO into the Marlborough grape growing region for your next stop at Makana Confections.

Specialising in gift-quality confections, hand-made and using only the freshest, natural ingredients available.  You can watch how they make their chocolates, taste a few samples and, of course, shop for delicious chocolate.

Next you will TRAVEL TO your final stop at Vines Village.

A visit to Vines Village is a great destination to explore and relax amongst tranquil landscaped lakeside grounds. The family friendly Vines Cafe/restaurant offers fresh & wholesome food, fresh coffee, tasty lunches & afternoon drinks. 

Just across the courtyard is the Vines Larder & Giftware then shop for crafts at The Quilters Barn for that something special. Also enjoy some sweet treats, ice cream at Cone & Scoop.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time. 

If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. 

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted. 

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time. 

This experience requires a minimum number of travellers. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
